Is there a difference in the treatment for SAD and GAD?
Posted by: | CommentsIs there a difference in the treatment for social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder? I'm on an antidepressant but still have social anxiety issues. Anyone have any success with any particular med? I don't have time for therapy, so I'm really looking more in the direction of meds. Thanks!
What medication are you taking right now? I would recommend something like effector, lexapro, or cymbalta. But, I use to have social anxiety as well and the best thing for it is exposure. Just walk up to complete strangers (preferably with a friend and in a crowded place lol) and conduct a make up survey and just ask them question, it will help you with talking to people and social interaction. Email me the medication you are taking and I will try to help you more. Cya!
Social Anxiety Disorder - help other than pills or therapy sessions?
Posted by: | CommentsI think I probably have Social Anxiety Disorder.
My finanical situation prohibits me from trying to go the route of medications or paying for any kind of therapy sessions.
Are there other resources I can try to help myself with until these become options?
I'm sorry to hear you have to go through that, but SA is treatable and curable…you just have to have a lot of patience. Anyway, here is one site…where you can get more support, as well as informations…and it doesn't cost anything ![]()
You can find a lot of people that share you problem!

what do you think this is ? anxiety stuff?
Posted by: | CommentsAlright so ive been ill for almost three months im always light headed. But thats not what im asking about, because of my illness ( i think its from it ) ive developed some sort of anxiety disorder. I almost always am kinda on edge, also i have panic attacks sometimes, i am worried about my health and kinda look for things to be wrong pretty much because docs dont know whats wrong with me for sure and i dunno if i should worry about idk dieing or sumthing. And when im in social places like walmart or mcdonalds or somthing lke that the dizzyness gets worse and i feel more anxious because of it. I was just put on lexapro 5 weeks ago and waiting for some relief so what do you guys think this disorder is ?
General Anxiety with panic attacks. I got it too after some bad experiences with ecstasy and I’m also on lexapro. I’ve been on it for 2+ months and it’s doing a good job at keeping my anxiety at bay. But for you it’s been over a month and you’re still feeling the same…? Maybe you need to be on a higher dosage, because lexapro is supposed to start showing some results after a month, sometimes even after 2 weeks. But don’t worry….it WILL go away. Keep reminding yourself that anxiety disorder is extremely common, nothing is wrong with you and you’re just freaking out, and you’re surrounded by people who love you and will help. I thought that I was gonna die too but that’s what anxiety does. It’s all in your mind. Next time you see your doctor/psychiatrist, explain to them everything and they’ll up or lower your dosage. Remember: NOBODY has ever died from a panic attack or anxiety. It is NOT a physical condition.

I don't know if this applies to you, but if so the SAFE programs are really really good.

If none of these work, most hospitals have inpatient mental health treatment programs.
Good luck.
How would you know if you had an anxiety disorder?
Posted by: | CommentsIf you know something or another on this subject, these are my specific questions:
Firstly, can you develop an anxiety disorder and then loose it or is it something your born with? Do people who take meds have an anxiety disorder? And how would you know if you had an anxiety disorder? All help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
You don't have to be born with an anxiety disorder. You can get anxious whenever. Also, sometimes you may not notice a struggle with anxiety until later in life. You don't just "loose" an anxiety disorder. It can be helped but it's never really lost. Certain things still may make a person anxious. Not everyone who take medications have an anxiety disorder. This DOES NOT mean that all people who take medications do not have an anxiety disorder. Anyone can. There are many different symptoms of anxiety; insomnia, repeated thoughts, fears of irrational things (ex: public restrooms, talking on the phone in public, etc.). The best way to find out is by going to a counselor or doctor.
What are some treatments for Social Anxiety Disorder.?
Posted by: | CommentsI have to do a report for my english class on some kind of world problem and I have to do a report on Social Anxiety Disorder. Not to be confused with shyness. I have most of my information, I just cannot find anything on therepy or treatments for this disorder.
I need help with finding some kind of specific therepy for S.A.D
The most common treatment from a Dr would be one of the mood enhancing drugs i.e anti depressants Seroxat seems to be the pill that works best .
Otherwise CBT cognitive behaviour therapy looks at how we think & the effect it has on behaviour, learning to change unhelpful thoughts.
