Bipolar Disorder and medical marijuana?
ByDoes anyone have evidence either way that can prove bipolar disorder is effective or not? I don't want your opinions. There's a lot of myths about marijuana. I'd rather evidence. I'm for it. I have bipolar disorder and it's quite effective with minimal side effects, if any. I've haven't smoked for a year and my mood swings have been RIDICULOUS. I was having a manic episode recently for the past month. I couldn't sleep and ANXIETY, lol. After 4 visits with my psychiatrist, with their meds making it worse actually, I decided to smoke some marijuana
Instant relief. Slept like a baby that night.
I already called out one of "Above the Influence's" sources that said marijuana can induce psychosis and/or depression. He admitted that he's most likely wrong. Just thought I'd throw that in there, for all of you who is so quick to say it's horrible : P
I have Bi - Polar and have had multiple hospitalizations being treated for years with a cocktail of pills and injections. I always seemed to end up back in the same spot hearing the same few things from doctor
1. It may take up to 8 weeks before you begin to feel better
2. If it doesn't work we can try something else
The fact of the matter was it took well over two years to find a combination of about 7 different meds a day just to maintain me and I would still end up in the hospital a few times a year.
Then I was forced to move and lost insurance and I began experimenting using Marijuana medically to help alleviate the moods and some issues i had with insomnia and just like you the relief was instant not months to know "if it was going to work" No money wasted on co pays to see if it worked it just worked. I have been vaporizing cannabis to treat the bipolar and insomnia and for me it works. I haven't been admitted into the hospital while using to treat the bipolar nor have I had any of the side affects associated with ambien and "sleep driving" (yes it happened to me)
Just like you I'm not interested in what someones morality is (tell that to the drunk who beats his wife) I am simply interested in what works, what keeps me going from day to day. For me it works

In my experience it just magnifies what ever mood your in, so if you're sad it makes you sadder, if you're happy it makes you happier. I have heard people say it helps bipolar disorder though, so i say try it. I can't see it causing any harm, if it works for you, then good, if you start feeling worse then just stop smoking.
