Unhappy? Stop Thinking
By admin
Prozac makes you feel better by disabling those crippling doubts and inhibitions, but it often does so at the expense of your better judgment. You stop over-analyzing, but you also stop thinking things through.
The government uses an objective checklist from statistics to determine that more than 50% of Americans suffer from mental dissorders. meanwhile the drug companies develop Prozac, ignoring social problems that may be the cause of the depression.

Prozac or Fluoxetine hydrochloride is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. Fluoxetine is approved for the treatment of major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, panic disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Over 22.2 million prescriptions for generic formulations of fluoxetine were filled in the United States in 2007, making it the third most prescribed antidepressant.
Among the common adverse effects associated with fluoxetine and listed in the prescribing information, the effects with the greatest difference from placebo are nausea (22% vs 9% for placebo), insomnia (19% vs 10% for placebo), somnolence (12% vs 5% for placebo), anorexia (10% vs 3% for placebo), anxiety (12% vs 6% for placebo), nervousness (13% vs 8% for placebo), asthenia (11% vs 6% for placebo) and tremor (9% vs 2% for placebo). Those that most often resulted in interruption of the treatment were anxiety, insomnia, and nervousness (1-2% each), and in pediatric trials—mania (2%).
Akathisia, that is inner tension, restlessness, and the inability to stay still, often accompanied by “constant pacing, purposeless movements of the feet and legs, and marked anxiety,” is a common side effect of fluoxetine. Akathisia usually begins after the initiation of the treatment or increase of the dose and disappears after fluoxetine is stopped or its dose is decreased, or after treatment with propranolol.
There are case reports directly linking akathisia with suicidal attempts, with patients feeling better after the withdrawal of fluoxetine, and again developing severe akathisia on repeated exposure to fluoxetine. These patients described “that the development of the akathisia made them feel suicidal and that it had precipitated their prior suicide attempts.

Brilliant. So true …
Brilliant. So true and it doesn’t just apply to mental health. Everything is getting worse yet politicians especially think if only we throw more money at it or pass more laws it will go away. Whether it be the “war” on poverty, the “war” on drugs, or the “war” against inner city violence. Banning drugs, guns or anything else doesn’t solve anything. So why do we keep doing it,and more importantly why do we elect people who keep wanting to go down that road?A bigger big brother is not the answer!

Shades of SOMA. It’s 1984 & A Brave New World combined. Cure the symptoms, but never the cause, keep them profits coming. Medicate away reality & calm the trouble makers while they are too young to defend themselves. Fluoride in your toothpaste, most drinking water, & soon to be added to bottled water.

Excellent vid and I …
Excellent vid and I followed the link as well. Yes, this is exactly what is happening, to a very large extent: the medicalization of normal human reaction and behavior, creating a society in which ANY kind of sadness or anxiety are viewed as abnormal. This, in turn, does not only benefit the pharmaceutical companies, but will lead to a more complacent populace in the long run.

Hmm. Do people know …
Hmm. Do people know that when doctors first realized that antidepressants make some people more suicidal they stopped prescribing them and the suicide rate then spiked 15%? Prozac isn’t evil, some people are really suffering and “stop thinking” doesn’t cut it.

Great challenge! …
Great challenge! For the sake of well being everyone should take a course in Critical Thinking! It is kept out of elementary and high school for a reason. Most people don’t make it to University and the schools are nurffed so much that college seems impossible for some. See past the rhetoric that passes for news and information and learn how to identify truth or lack there of. You don’t have to turn off your TV, but once you have the power to think critically, you most probably will.

My girlfriend was on seroxat for 4 years. It is a terrible drug. Every time she complained of side effects they upped her dose. They said it was non addictive…..it took her 18 months to withdraw, down to a milligram at a time. What the doctors don’t tell you is they get commision every time they perscribe this drug to someone. It’s no joke….it has destroyed lives…
